The Brazilian Rain Tree Forest, a grouping of Rain Trees that are well known for their unique trunk shape and color, has been groomed for success since its 2009 placement at the Selby Gardens’ Bonsai Tree display. The Sho Fu Bonsai Society was determined to share the Forest’s merit at the Annual National Bonsai Exhibition in Rochester, New York in September of this year. The convention showcases only the best of the best from each species of Bonsai.
“We have been to national exhibitions, we have been to Japan, and we have never seen a forest, in that particular species, that is that impressive,” shares Michael Knowlton, President of Bonsai Societies of Florida.
After years of preparation and special care, the Forest was chosen for the 6th Annual National Bonsai Exhibition in September 2018. Along with the privilege of attending, the Sho Fu Society’s very own Brazilian Rain Tree Forest was chosen as the “Finest Tropical Bonsai” at the National Exhibition.
To view other spectacular Bonsai in the Selby Gardens exhibit, guests can visit the Bonsai Tree Display outside of the Tropical Conservatory. During Member’s Day weekend, the Sho Fu Society will also host a special display inside Michael’s on the Bay on November 10 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m and November 11 from 10 a.m. to noon.
