On Saturday, January 16 and Sunday, January 17, 2021, Selby Gardens partnered with UnidosNow to offer more than 130 families free admission to Marie Selby Botanical Gardens’ Downtown Sarasota campus. The families enjoyed the gardens and toured the 18th annual Rainforest Masks of Costa Rica exhibition on view through January 31, 2021.
“It was a pleasure to have the UnidosNow families at Selby Gardens,” says Jennifer Rominiecki, President & CEO of Selby Gardens. “The opportunity for them to connect with nature embodies our commitment to connect a wide variety of audiences to our mission.”
“We are grateful for Selby Gardens’ partnership,” says UnidosNow Program Director Cintia Elenstar. “It is our hope that through these opportunities our families will foster a deeper connection to art and nature in our community.”
UnidosNow also participates in Selby Gardens’ My Garden membership program. Launched in August 2019, My Garden provides underserved youth in Sarasota and Manatee Counties with annual memberships to Selby Gardens that allow the youth and their household to visit the gardens at any time throughout the year. During the pilot year of the program from August 2019 to July 2020, Selby Gardens worked with eight partner agencies to provide memberships for 266 participating families resulting in more than 1,200 visits to Selby Gardens.
