Selby Gardens announces updates to the Downtown campus summer exhibition schedule – Salvador Dali: Gardens of the Mind exhibition extended through July 26

Marie Selby Botanical Gardens (Selby Gardens) is pleased to announce updates to the summer exhibition schedule at the Downtown Sarasota campus. Selby Gardens will extend Salvador Dali: Gardens of the Mind through July 26, 2020. The exhibition features the bold blending of the expected and the unexpected, floral and plant displays in the gardens that pay homage to key motifs in Dali’s work such as eggs, eyes, crutches, and mathematical concepts. The exhibition is in collaboration with The Dali Museum in St. Petersburg, Fla.

The Museum of Botany & the Arts showcases ten colorful photolithographs of flowers by Dali along with works from American photographer Clyde Butcher’s series Visions of Dalí’s Spain.
“The exhibition was breaking all records before we had to temporarily close on March 17 due to COVID-19 guidelines,” Jennifer Rominiecki, President & CEO of Selby Gardens said. “During our Phase One reopening guests were able to explore many of the outdoor vignettes and we are excited that they will now have the opportunity to experience the entire exhibition through July 26.”

From August 8 to September 20, visitors will be able to view both In Dialogue with Nature: Glass in the Gardens and Celebrate Selby Gardens! 40th Annual Juried Photography Exhibition – at the Downtown Sarasota campus.
Selby Gardens, in partnership with the Duncan McClellan Gallery (DMG) in St. Petersburg, presents the third annual summer glass show In Dialogue with Nature: Glass in the Gardens. This summer, Selby Gardens will feature the nature-inspired glasswork created exclusively by Duncan McClellan and his studio artists which will be displayed in the Tropical Conservatory and in the Gardens against a backdrop of lush flowers and plants. The botanically-themed glassworks will be for sale with a significant portion of the proceeds benefiting Selby Gardens’ mission.

Celebrate Selby Gardens! 40th Annual Juried Photography Exhibition will be on view in the Museum of Botany & the Arts at Selby Gardens’ Downtown Sarasota campus. Entry into the exhibition is open to all amateurs, but photos must have been taken at either Selby Gardens’ Downtown Sarasota or Historic Spanish Point campuses. Amateur photographers can enter their photographs into five categories. For a list of categories, entry forms and rules please visit selby.org
